Lord, Save My Children

Every day right from the start
A special prayer flows from my heart.
It's for the ones you gave to me
To love and nurture and rear for thee.
Lord, save my children.

I've taught them to worship and sing
Songs of praise to you, my king.
We've read the Bible and we've prayed.
I've tried to see that they obeyed.
Lord, save my children.

But all the things that I can do
Cannot force them to live for you.
They have a will of their own.
They can reject the things they've known.
Lord, save my children.

I can't follow each place they go
To tell them yes, or tell them no.
But you are there. By your Spirit
Speak to them so they will hear it.
Lord, save my children.

Remind them of your Holy Word
Which they have heard, and heard, and heard.
Deal personally with them, oh Lord, I pray,
Throughout the night and throughout the day.
Lord, save my children.

I ask you, Lord, to do your part.
Speak clear. Speak daily to their hearts.
Be gentle, but do what you must
To bring them to a place of trust.
Lord, save my children.

I know that you have special ways
(Like hungry whales, or shining rays)
That can bring a man down to his knees
Until in humbleness he pleads.
Lord, save my children.

Bring others who will help water the seed,
Who will pray with me and intercede
That you will have your perfect way;
That your love will be felt by my kids today.
Lord, save my children.

I can't take their sins away.
I can't hear them when they pray.
But I can place them in your care.
I know you'll speak. I know you're there.
Lord, I trust you to save my children.
